Environmental projects targeting local needs
With offices across the EMEA region, ASBIS has adopted a localized approach to environmental stewardship. Recent initiatives have included:
- Reforestation efforts. The Reforest Cyprus Initiative, where ASBIS employees, joined by their families, gathered in the picturesque Curium area, near the Agios Ermogenis Church in Limassol. Over a weekend, the team planted 300 trees, showcasing a strong commitment to reforestation and community involvement. In Croatia, ASBIS took a similar approach with a reforestation project in Maksimir Park, Zagreb’s oldest public park, renowned for its cultural significance and biodiversity. ASBIS team planted 300 oak seedlings, contributing to the park’s ecological health while fostering camaraderie through shared experiences.
- Sustainable infrastructure. ASBIS has also made significant investments in green technology with its Dubai office, which features a smart heating system powered by solar energy. This innovation allows the company to reduce its carbon footprint while optimizing energy efficiency.
- Community clean-up projects. Recently, ASBIS organized a large-scale event in Štiavnica, Slovakia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The team successfully removed 200 meters of historic ditches vital for water conservation in the area, originally engineered to channel rainwater into artificial lakes. Additionally, ASBIS team dedicated their efforts to cleaning and maintaining a 25-acre animal enclosure at the ZOO PARK in Revishtsky Podzamče.
- Pioneering waste recycling solutions. ASBIS launched Blend Energy, an eco-fuel startup aimed at transforming mixed polymer waste into valuable fuel and energy resources. Since its inception Blend Energy has implemented innovative sustainable processes to bolster the energy and waste management sectors, contributing to the transition towards a circular economy.
Educational projects
ASBIS contributed significantly to education and startup support throughout 2024, aiming to nurture the next generation of innovators.
- A highlight of the year was ASBIS Hellas and ASBIS Robotic Solutions (AROS) serving as gold sponsors of the “Unknown Mission League,” a nationwide robotics competition organized by the Hellenic Educational Robotics Organization (HERO). Engaging over 500 students under 25 across eight regions.
- In Cyprus, ASBIS hosted 25 students from the prestigious Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Under the guidance of Logistics Director Alexey Souslau, students gained hands-on insights into supply chain management.
- ASBIS also organized an impactful Apple Education event in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, which focused on Apple Education Solutions and included prominent academic leaders.
- Additionally, the company launched a three-day educator camp in Limassol, showcasing the DOBOT CR5 robotic arm. This initiative aims to empower 16 technical educators to inspire students in robotics, enhancing technological integration within Cypriot curricula.
Charitable contributions supporting communities
ASBIS remains committed to charitable endeavors, providing financial support to various foundations, orphanages, and participating in charity marathons.
- ASBIS Slovakia team fulfilled the wishes of 66 children from orphanages around Bratislava and presented them with Christmas gifts.
- With a €15,000 donation and contributions from ASBIS Slovakia team, the company supported families in need and those facing severe illnesses.
- ASBIS Bulgaria supported the Christmas Charity Market at Trade Centre Europe in Sofia, Bulgaria.
- ASBIS KYPROS became one of the collection points and one of the contributors in the social initiative directing to help families in need and the Cyprus Red Cross by donating clothes.
- ASBIS Romania has embarked on a charity initiative titled “ASBIS Little People’s Library,” aimed at sharing children’s books. All remaining books will be donated to “Bookster,” a local private library.
- ASBIS Croatia has stepped up community engagement by volunteering at a local food kitchen, providing vital meals to those in need, including the homeless and low-income individuals.
- ASBIS Bulgaria team participated in the annual charity relay run organized by Edenred, showcasing their enthusiasm for community involvement. Meanwhile, the ASBIS SK team took part in the Peace Marathon in Košice, Slovakia. The marathon centered on the theme of peace, promoting friendships and solidarity.
