Intel outlines new architectures for Agentic AI at Hot Chips 2026
Diamond Rapids, Crescent Island and Wildcat Lake show how Intel is scaling Agentic AI from the data center to the edge.
At Hot Chips 2026, Intel outlined three complementary architectures designed to support the next generation of Agentic AI and enterprise workloads: the next-generation Xeon processor codenamed Diamond Rapids, the Crescent Island GPU for efficient AI inference, and Wildcat Lake, introduced as Intel Core Series 3 processors.
Together, these architectures demonstrate Intel’s approach to Agentic AI – combining general-purpose compute, specialized acceleration, advanced packaging and open chiplet technologies to address different workloads and deployment environments.
Diamond Rapids: a compute foundation for Agentic AI
The next-generation Xeon processor, codenamed Diamond Rapids, is designed to provide a scalable compute foundation for enterprise-scale Agentic AI.
Built on Intel technology including the Intel 18A-P process, Diamond Rapids combines adaptable compute, a unified memory fabric and flexible I/O to support demanding AI workloads.

- Up to 256 cores and 1.28 GB LLC
- 16 memory channels supporting up to 12,800 MT/s
- 128 lanes of PCIe Gen 6 and CXL 3.0
- Enhanced AMX capabilities for AI acceleration
- Foveros Direct 3D and UCIe-S interconnect technology
Crescent Island: efficient AI inference at scale
Crescent Island is a next-generation data center GPU designed for AI inference. It combines high compute performance with large memory capacity, helping organizations run larger models, longer context windows and more concurrent AI agents in air-cooled data center environments.
Key highlights:
- 32 Xe cores and 256 XMX engines based on Xe3P
- Up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X memory
- 350-watt air-cooled PCIe card
The architecture is designed to improve inference efficiency, increase infrastructure utilization and help enterprises get more value from their AI investments.
Wildcat Lake: bringing AI to client and edge devices
Intel is also extending Agentic AI beyond the data center with Wildcat Lake, the architecture behind Intel Core Series 3 processors.
Built on Intel 18A, Wildcat Lake combines new CPU cores with integrated Xe3 graphics featuring XMX acceleration and an NPU delivering up to 17 TOPS for Hybrid AI.
Key highlights:
- 2 performance cores + 4 efficiency cores
- Support for up to LPDDR5X-7467
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0
- Up to 17 TOPS NPU performance
