ASBIS Group supported the\u00a0Athens Philharmonic International Peace Concert 2026<\/strong>, a landmark cultural event presented from\u00a0Platres, Cyprus, on Europe Day, May 9, 2026. Held under the auspices of the\u00a0Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, the concert was hosted by the\u00a0American Medical Center, the concert\u2019s Principal Supporting Partner, and presented by\u00a0Bang & Olufsen, with ASBIS joining the initiative as an\u00a0Official Supporting Partner.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Athens Philharmonic presented the event in partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in the context of its international broadcast production and distribution through the EBU network. Set in the forest of Platres, a place of rare natural beauty and cultural resonance, the concert carried a message of peace from Cyprus to the world.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ASBIS, supporting the concert was more than participation in a cultural event. The programme of the concert carried a powerful symbolic message. The Athens Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir performed under the musical and artistic direction of Maestro Yiannis Hadjiloizou, with the participation of more than 150 world-class artists from across Europe. One of the central moments of the evening was Ludwig van Beethoven\u2019s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 \u201cChoral\u201d. Beethoven\u2019s \u201cOde to Joy\u201d became the emotional centre of the evening, delivering a universal message of peace and unity among people.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert was streamed live in Cyprus via AlphaNews.Live, with a televised broadcast by Alpha TV Cyprus scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. In addition, EBU member broadcasters received the recorded audiovisual material and have the opportunity to broadcast the concert between May 9 and June 9, 2026. Through this international distribution, images from Cyprus may reach audiences across Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East, with access to a potential global audience exceeding one billion viewers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Neophytos Charalambides, who represented the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides. Also in attendance were the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr George Savvides, the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, H.E. Mr Michael Tatham CMG, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Cyprus, H.E. Mr Mohamed Zaazou, the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, H.E. Mr Konstantinos Kollias. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening in Platres became a reminder that culture can build bridges where words are sometimes not enough.
