Intel Rolls Out uCPE Intel Select Solution to Accelerate Network Transformation
What's New: To help communications service providers and enterprises respond to evolving network service changes more effectively and rapidly, Intel and its partners are rolling out a new Intel® Select Solution for universal customer premises equipment (uCPE).
"With this launch, we are unleashing the power of network transformation with a ready-to-build reference design for Intel hardware-based uCPE solutions that will be delivered by our partners. With the new Intel Select Solution for uCPE, service providers can accelerate provisioning of new services, streamline management and cut operating expenses, while customers gain greater flexibility, along with an opportunity to reduce operational costs." –Dan Rodriguez, vice president and general manager of the Communications Infrastructure Division in Intel's Data Center Group
How It Works: Introducing the uCPE solutions in a keynote today at the Big Communication Event (BCE) event in Austin, Texas, Rodriguez said Intel Select Solutions for uCPE help to enable customers in the effort to transform fixed-function, proprietary technology to efficient and agile infrastructure delivered by an Intel architecture-based solution running multiple network services in virtualized and traditional deployment models. Such a uCPE deployment consolidates multiple fixed-function appliances onto a single platform, giving customers the agility to run virtualized network functions at both enterprises and at branch offices. This saves time and money for service providers and their enterprise customers. Typical services delivered via a uCPE solution include firewalls, routing, intrusion prevention systems, Wi-Fi and software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN). The tightly-specified Intel Select Solution for uCPE will be based on the Intel® Xeon® D-2100 system-on-chip (SOC) processor, which was announced this year.
Who It's For: For partners including OEMs, ODMs, and Systems Integrators, Intel provides the platforms and tools needed to build and deliver unique Intel Select Solutions for uCPE based on Intel technologies, while leaving them headroom to innovate and differentiate their offerings.
Who Will Sell It: Intel partners are already building Intel Select Solutions for uCPE, including Advantech, Lanner, Premier, Silicom, and Supermicro, who plan to offer solutions starting in the second half of 2018.
How To Implement It: A broad set of Intel-powered and pre-optimized Intel® architecture-based uCPE solutions will be offered from partners and select systems integrators globally. To learn more go to the Intel Select Solutions page on Intel.com.
