IT channel CRN ranks Pure Storage in 10 new all-flash arrays and SSDs of 2019
Pure Storage – all-flash storage technology developer has replaced its iSCSI connectivity with its new DirectFlash Fabric technology in February, thus increasing its FlashArray//X performance.
As stated by the company, iSCSI performance was insufficient, therefore DirectFlash Fabric replaced it with RDMA over converged Ethernet for up to a 50% reduction in latency over iSCSI, and a 20% performance gain over Fibre Channel.
RDMA, or remote direct memory access, is one of the key performance improvements which offloads many of the storage operations from the arrays’ processors.
When Purity storage operating system is released with support for NVMe/FC and NVME/TCP, getting this support will just require a software upgrade.
